Our Mission
Our mission is to create opportunities for student and public STEM learning through rich interactive experiences at schools and public venues in our region.

 STEM Learning is Critical!
The Imperial Valley Discovery Zone (IVDZ) is currently hosting the Smithsonian exhibit Outbreak.  It is part of a National Museum of Natural History program designed to increase exposure of their exhibits into areas less served.  IVDZ is hosting Imperial Unified 3-12 grade students for tours.  We thank the Smithsonian for allowing us to utilize this high-quality content!
Watch here for openings for the public.

Let's Share What We Know!

Our elementary STEM instruction involves meaningful interactions between younger and older students.  Our program asks high-school students to facilitate original STEM lessons to elementary students.  These lessons are NGSS-aligned and relevant to our region.
Let's Learn While we Create
Our Makerspace is a formalized space for creating.  We supply resources, materials, and equipment so students can collaborate while creating, and learn throughout the process.  This is one of those rare chances students have to apply their classroom learning outside of a traditional academic setting.  We emphasize the Engineering Design Cycle is this effort and use the final product to reach out to our public to improve STEM literacy.

So this is why I learned math!

Let's Share What We Create

In order to promote STEM literacy we participate in community events.  Student-created interactive exhibits are set up and facilitated by high school students.  Not only does the public have the chance to engage with our exhibits, our students have the chance to create worthwhile personal experiences and hone their communication skills!
